A Saturday trip to Wisconsin netted the St. Ambrose women's tennis team a pair of wins.

The Bees defeated host Wis.-Stout 7-2 before taking down Wisconsin Lutheran 9-0 later in the day.

The two victories move SAU to 2-1 on the year.

In the opener, St. Ambrose swept the three doubles matches, with two going down to the wire. Griffin Rasche and Alex Horton won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 team of Sammy Carr and Nikki Steiner prevailed in a tiebreaker 9-8. Mary Alice Oswalt and Shannon McEachern completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win.

SAU then took four of the six singles matches. Rasche rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot and Oswalt pulled out a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 2. Horton won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 and Shannon Shovlain was victorious 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

The Bees continued their roll in the afternoon.

The three doubles teams of Rasche-Oswalt, Carr-Horton and Shovlain-Steiner combined to lose just six games in getting St. Ambrose off to a fast start.

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets with only Horton getting challenged in her 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3. Rasche, Oswalt, Carr, McEachern and Shovlain won singles matches to close out the 9-0 win.

SAU is now off until a Sept. 25 dual at Loras.
