CCAC release

Michael Ohioze was named the CCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals and assisting on three others in a pair of matches last week.

After collecting two assists in a 2-2 tie with Mount Mercy earlier in the week, Ohioze came up with both of his goals in the Bees' 5-0 shutout of Viterbo Sunday at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

It was part of a dominating performance that saw St. Ambrose out-shoot Viterbo 21-4. The V-Hawks did not record a shot on goal.

Just over five minutes into the match, SAU had a 1-0 lead. Daniel Brown scored off a Ryan Drechsler assist just 5:09 into the game. Not even three minutes later the lead grew to 2-0 on a Gregor Stevenson unassisted goal.

Then Ohioze took over. First with a goal at the 20:50 mark with assists going to Drechsler and Letty Masula. Then 10 minutes later finding Drechsler for a goal of his own and a 4-0 lead at the half.

Seven minutes into the second half, Ohioze completed the scoring by taking a pass from Brown for his second goal of the match.

Tom Greensall was credited with the shutout.

St. Ambrose, now 1-1-1 overall, will visit Culver-Stockton Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to host William Penn Saturday at 5 p.m. at St. Vincent's.
