Brad Connor and Mitch Negangard were named the Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week today after helping St. Ambrose to a win at Lindenwood-Belleville Saturday.

Connor, a senior wide receiver from Bloomington, Ill., caught seven passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the 24-19 win. His first touchdown was a 70-yard reception from quarterback Patrick Smith that gave the Bees a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter. It was a lead the team never relinquished. Connor later hauled in a 27-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.

Through three games, Connor has 18 catches for 297 yards and three scores. He needs 220 yards and three touchdowns to tie SAU's all-time career records currently held by Michael Hayward.

Negangard, a senior linebacker from Sidney, Ill., was all over the field Saturday, finishing with a game-high 13 total tackles. He had two tackles in the backfield as part of the Bees' 15 tackles for losses. Negangard also forced a fumble and broke up a pair of passes.

He leads the team with 34 total tackles, including 24 solo stops, this season. Six of his tackles have gone for losses.

After an off week, the Bees return home to host Trinity International at 1 p.m. on Oct. 1 as part of Homecoming Weekend.
