By taking two of the three doubles matches, St. Ambrose was able to escape with a 5-4 win at Dubuque Tuesday afternoon.

The No. 1 team of Griffin Rasche and Alex Horton prevailed 8-6 and the No. 2 team of Sammy Carr and Mary Alice Oswalt came through with an 8-4 win.

The Bees then got the three singles victories they needed to win the dual.

Horton was the team's lone two-tme winner, prevailing 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. The bottom of the lineup got the other two wins. Shannon Shovlain won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5 and Shannon McEachern was pushed to a third-set super-tiebreaker before winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 at No. 6.

Sammy Carr fell in a third-set breaker 10-8 at No. 4 singles.

The Bees, now 3-2, will close the fall portion of their schedule with a pair of duals Saturday in Rock Island, Ill. SAU will face Elmhurst at 12 p.m. before facing host Augustana at 3 p.m.
