A pair of freshmen contributed for the Bees at the National Catholic Championship at the University of Notre Dame.

Jenny Dickes ran as the Bees' No. 4 runner, finishing in 20:38 to help the Bess finish 17th in the 30-team field of Non-Division I schools.

The Bees impressively finished with just a 29-second gap from their first and fifth runner. Along with Dickes, freshman Sarah Adams ran as the Bees No. 7 runner.

SAU was led once again by Karyn Paisley, with Keeley Knobloch just six seconds behind. The two NAIA national qualifying runners from a year ago were followed up by seniors Nicole Woodall and Katie Nelson.

In the JV race there were several good performances, highlihgted by Mallory Rettenmeier's 33rd place finish in 21:06 with Ann Froeschle and freshman Sara Stockdale not far behind.

"It was good to get out and race a 5K," SAU head coach Dan Zeimet said. "We'll learn from this experience and move on. We're hoping to run our best races of the year in October and November."

The Bees will next race at their home meet, The Fighting Bee Invite, on October 8 at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.
