2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Teams

St. Ambrose senior defensive back Joe Marconi was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team today.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, sophomores or older, with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages.

Marconi represents the District 3 College Division, which includes NAIA and two-year colleges from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. He now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honoress will be selected in November.

Marconi, from Wheaton, Ill., has recorded 36 tackles for the Bees this season, including 3.5 for losses. He also leads the team with three fumble recoveries.

Marconi and the other seniors on the St. Ambrose football team will be recognized prior to Saturday's home finale when the Bees (4-4) host Olivet Nazarene. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Brady Street Stadium.
