It was just one of those days.

St. Ambrose watched Calumet St. Joseph knock down 17 3-pointers and shoot nearly 58 percent from the floor overall in a 110-72 loss in Whiting, Ind., Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson Wave actually shot better from beyond the arc, hitting 17-of-29 threes to finish at 58.6 percent, than they did from inside the 3-point line.

It took more than seven minutes for CCSJ to hit its first 3-pointer, allowing SAU to take an early 12-7 lead behind four points apiece from Eric Dust and Jacoby Posley. But the Wave's first triple staked Calumet to a 14-12 lead, a lead the team would never relinquish.

CCSJ (11-11, 7-8 CCAC) was 9-of-17 from 3-point range in building a 55-40 halftime lead. The Crimson Wave followed that up by hitting 8-of-12 threes, as part of a 16-of-25 overall shooting performance, in the second half in blowing things open. They finished 33-of-57 from the floor. CCSJ also outscored SAU 27-13 from the line.

Dust led four Bees in double figures with 14 points. He and Kain Arthofer, who scored 11 points, each pulled down a team-leading five rebounds. Posley scored 13 points and Dedric Byrd came up with 12 points and four assists. John Kohnle dropped in eight points.

St. Ambrose, now 7-15 overall and 5-10 in CCAC play, will host Silver Lake Wednesday in a non-conference game beginning at 7:30 p.m.
