Eric Dust finished with 19 points and nine rebounds to lead St. Ambrose to an 83-70 win over Silver Lake Wednesday night at Lee Lohman Arena.

A 9-0 run helped the Bees take control early. Kain Arthofer scored the first six points of the spurt and John Kohnle capped it with a 3-pointer to put SAU in front 18-7 eight minutes into the game.

The lead grew to 17 points at 37-20 on a Dust jumper late in the half before the Bees settled for a 37-23 lead at the break.

St. Ambrose maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, twice pushing the advantage to 19 points, the last time coming on a basket from Dust with nine minutes to play.

Three minutes later, Silver Lake closed to within nine points but Jacoby Posley immediately answered with a three to extend the lead back to 12.

The Lakers made a little charge late but Jake Meeske and Lee Hardrick combined for eight free throws over the final 49 seconds to close out the victory.

SAU limited SLC to 35-percent shooting for the game, including just 24 percent in the first half. The Bees also held a 45-33 rebounding advantage and connected on 23-of-29 shots from the line.

Hardrick (14 points) and Meeske (11) joined Dust in double figures in the win. Arthofer scored nine points while Dedric Byrd, Greg Wagner and Blake Johnson each scored six to help the Bees move to 8-15 overall on the season.

St. Ambrose returns to CCAC play Saturday with a 3 p.m. game at Cardinal Stritch.
