Jake Meeske and Eric Dust each scored 13 points in an 86-65 loss at Cardinal Stritch Saturday afternoon.

The Bees were unable to fight back after falling behind 44-27 at the half, a half in which they shot just 35 percent from the field.

A Lee Hardrick layup had SAU down just 30-25 with 5:13 to play but the Wolves closed the first half on a 14-2 run as the Bees went just 1-of-4 from the floor and committed four turnovers over the final five minutes.

Meeske trimmed the margin to 15 with a layup three minutes into the second half, but Cardinal Stritch quickly pushed the lead to 20 and St. Ambrose never threatened from there.

Meeske and Dust were the only two Bees to finish in double figures. Kain Arthofer and John Kohnle each scored eight points, Hardrick finished with seven and Blake Johnson added six.

Dedric Byrd came up with four points, six rebounds and five assists, and had both of the Bees' two steals. Cardinal Stritch (13-14, 9-8 CCAC) committed just two turnovers in the game. SAU had 13 turnovers.

St. Ambrose (8-16, 5-11 CCAC) returns home to host No. 17 Trinity International Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. That will be the first of three straight games against nationally-ranked opponents. SAU will visit No. 10 Robert Morris Saturday before playing No. 4 Rochester in Gary, Ind., on Sunday.
