St. Ambrose rallied from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit and had a shot to for the lead in the final 25 seconds but Hailey Cook's shot was off the mark and the Bees fell 80-75 at Robert Morris Saturday afternoon.

The loss overshadowed big games from Reeann McCarty and Cook. McCarty finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals and Cook added 21 points and five boards.

The two combined for 20 of the Bees' 26 points in the fourth quarter as SAU attempted to rally from a 63-49 deficit entering the frame.

McCarty was sensational in the fourth, shooting 6-of-7 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, in netting 14 points. She scored the first eight points of the quarter to trim the margin to 63-57.

McCarty's jumper with 1:15 to play cut the score to 75-71 and after a defensive stop, Gabrielle Koelker hit a pair of free throws to get the Bees to within two points at 75-73. After a Robert Morris free throw, McCarty grabbed an offensive rebound and scored on the put back to make it a one-point game with 31 seconds to go.

Aubrie Carlisle came up with an immediate steal to get St. Ambrose the ball back, but after a Bee timeout, Cook missed her shot for the lead and the Eagles tracked down the rebound leading to two free throws with 20 seconds left.

SAU had a chance to tie but the Bees' turned it over, leading to two more RMU free throws to account for the final score.

The Bees' undoing was the third quarter, when they were outscored 24-13 after trailing just 39-36 at the half. St. Ambrose shot just 5-of-16 from the field and 3-of-6 from the line in the third.

SAU nearly came all the way back thanks to the big fourth quarter. The Bees' defense forced nine turnovers in the frame, with Carlisle picking up three steals.

Brette Logic scored seven points and Carlisle and Morgan Myers each scored five in the loss.

SAU will play its final home game of the year Wednesday against No. 3 Saint Xavier on Senior Night. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
