Caleb Neff and Quinn Coyle each scored three goals but it came in a losing effort in an 18-9 setback at No. 9 Indiana Tech Tuesday afternoon.

The Bees never fully recovered after spotting the Warriors a 5-0 lead just eight minutes into the contest.

Coyle scored two of his three goals in the first period and a Matt Madril goal with three seconds left in the frame cut the deficit to 5-3. Coyle completed his hat trick just over two minutes into the second quarter off a pass from Anthony Maciag to keep the Bees close at 6-4.

Neff scored an unassisted goal to make the score 8-5 but an Indiana Tech goal with one second remaining pushed the Warriors' advantage to 9-5 at the half.

After Justin Johnson scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the third to trim the margin to 10-6, Indiana Tech ended the quarter with five unanswered goals to break things open.

Neff scored his final two goals, the last one assisted by Madril, in the fourth quarter to record his hat trick. Josh Bales also scored with Jared Morgan getting the assist in the fourth.

Louis Mallillin was credited with 17 saves.

SAU, now 1-5 overall, will open KCAC play at Benedictine Saturday.
