St. Ambrose moved to 3-1 in the spring and 3-3 overall following wins over Greenville and Knox Saturday at the Quad City Tennis Club. The Bees defeated Greenville 5-4 before coming back later in the day to shutout Knox 9-0.

SAU needed four singles victories to pull out the win over Greenville. Tom Greenwood's win at No. 2 singles proved to be the match of the day. After dropping the first set 6-4, Greenwood bounced back to take the second 7-5 to force a third-set super-tiebreaker, which he ultimately took 10-7.

Three other Bees won in straight sets, including Bart Van Rooijen's 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Jake Anderson won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 and Michael Allee prevailed 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5.

Van Rooijen and Anderson combined for the Bees' lone doubles win, a 9-8 (7-3) victory at the No. 1 spot.

St. Ambrose swept all nine matches against Knox.

Greenwood (No. 2), Anderson (No. 3) and Colin Stiefer (No. 5) each won in singles 6-0, 6-0. Van Rooijen surrendered just two games in his 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1. Allee was forced to a third-set breaker before coming away with the 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 win. Jake Temple won at No. 6 singles by default.

Van Rooijen-Greenwood and Dan DaLuga-Bradley Wheeler won at No. 1 and 2 doubles, respectively, while Allee and Temple won by default at No. 3.

SAU will next compete on its annual Spring Break trip to Florida, which begins with a dual against Saint Scholastica on Sunday, Mar. 12.
