St. Ambrose got the spring portion of its schedule started with a 9-0 victory over Knox Sunday morning at the Quad City Tennis Club.

The win moves the Bees to 4-5 overall heading into the team's annual Spring Break trip to Florida beginning next week.

SAU won all six singles matches in straight sets. Griffin Rasche, Shannon Shovlain and Shannon McEachern won by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores at No. 1, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

Mary Alice Oswalt prevailed 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3, Alex Horton won 6-1, 6-2, and Nikki Steiner lost just one game in her 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4.

Shovlain and McEachern did not drop a game in their 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.

The teams of Rasche-Oswalt and Steiner-Horton each won 8-2.

SAU will face Illinois Wesleyan and Saint Scholastica on Sunday to begin its Spring trip.
