St. Ambrose won two of its three matches, with the only loss coming to No. 5 Ottawa, at a two-day tournament hosted by Culver-Stockton Friday and Saturday.

The No. 10-ranked Bees got wins over Lindenwood-Belleville and Briar Cliff to move to 15-9 on the year.

SAU dropped the first set to Lindenwood Friday night before rallying for the 18-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-20 win. Scott MacGillis led the charge with 20 kills and just hitting errors as St. Ambrose hit .391 as a team. Riley Anderson had 11 kills and one error and Zach Schmidt added 12 kills in the win. 

Austin Royer led all players with 51 assists and Royer and Nathan Heller each recorded three service aces. Robby Hoffman came up with 10 digs.

Later Friday, the Bees dominated Briar Cliff 25-9, 25-11, 25-17.

MacGillis, Anderson and Schmidt again led the way, combining for 21 of the team's 35 kills. Heller and Max Hogan each added four kills. Royer picked up three along with 15 assists. Adam Campbell registered 10 assists. Hoffman had 11 digs. Schmidt and Hogan had four blocks apiece.

While SAU hit .397 as a team, the Bees forced Briar Cliff into 23 hitting errors to their 15 total kills.

The tournament ended with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 loss to Ottawa Saturday.

Anderson (13) and MacGillis (10) had double-digit kills for St. Ambrose. Royer finished with 27 assists.

SAU faces a showdown at CCAC-leading Robert Morris Tuesday. The Bees at 7-1 in the conference have a chance to draw even with the No. 8-ranked Eagles (23-7, 8-0 CCAC) with a win.
