St. Ambrose officially opened the spring portion of its schedule by finishing 17th at the TPC Deere Run Invitational hosted by William Penn Monday and Tuesday.

The Bees made significant improvement on Day 2, shooting a 383 after opening with a 413 Monday.

Mackenzie Clawson had SAU's best round of the tournament, firing a second-round 89 on the heels of her opening-round 102 to finish 72nd overall with a 191.

She was tied by teammate Emily Jean, who put together rounds of 100 and 91 for her 191.

The other three Bees also made big jumps on Tuesday.

Jennifer Lorenz carded a 203 (104-99), Kelsey Page finished with a 211 (107-104) and Erin Bullington ended with a 218 (113-105).

Campbellsville, led by individual medalist Cassidy Scantland, who fired a 1-under 143, won the tournament with a two-day total of 614.

SAU will next compete at the CCAC Championships, April 27-28, at the Flossmoor (Ill.) Country Club.
