For the second time in three conference meets, St. Ambrose came up on the short end of a 5-4 decision.

Saturday, it was Judson who escaped with the 5-4 win to drop the Bees to 4-13 overall and 0-3 in the CCAC.

SAU won two of the three doubles matches but could only claim two of six singles wins.

Griffin Rasche and Alex Horton earned an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles and Mary Alice Oswalt and Nikki Steiner grabbed an 8-6 win at No. 2. The No. 3 team of Shannon Shovlain and Shannon McEachern fell 8-6.

Horton and McEachern added the two St. Ambrose singles wins at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. Horton needed a first-set tiebreaker in her 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win while McEachern won in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.

The match of the meet came at No. 1 singles, where Rasche lost in a heart-breaker after taking the opening set. She ultimately fell 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 in a third-set super-tiebreaker. Oswalt dropped a competitive 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 2 singles.

The Bees will look to pick up their first conference win of the season when they visit Robert Morris Wednesday.
