Another fast start went to waste as St. Ambrose fell to Ottawa (Kan.) 13-5 Friday night at St. Vincent's.

It took just over two minutes for the Bees to take the lead on Jared Morgan's goal off a pass from Matt Madril. Four minutes later, Jared Morgan scored a man-up goal to push the lead to 2-0. Austin Adams had the assist.

After Ottawa got on the board seven minutes into the game, Caleb Neff netted an unassisted goal midway through the period for a 3-1 Bee advantage.

Then St. Ambrose hit a dry spell, taking just eight shots combined over the second and third quarters, while the Braves totaled 30 shots over the middle two periods. Despite Louis Mallillin coming up with 14 of his 19 saves in the second and third, Ottawa (6-4, 3-0 KCAC) ran off five straight goals to grab a 6-3 lead heading to the fourth.

An Adams goal 42 seconds into the frame off a Tom Kelly assist got the Bees to within 6-4 before Ottawa ripped off four straight goals to break things open. Quinn Coyle found Nicholas Cooper for the final St. Ambrose goal with just over six minutes to play.

The loss dropped SAU to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

With Madonna forced to cancel Sunday's game at St. Vincent's, the Bees will next visit No. 1 Missouri Valley Thursday at 7 p.m. SAU has rescheduled its Senior Day for Tuesday, April 18, when St. Ambrose will host Clarke. That game will start at 6 p.m.
