St. Ambrose swept a three-game weekend series from Roosevelt to move to 19-23 overall and 15-7 in the CCAC.

The Bees took Saturday's road doubleheader by scores of 3-0 and 6-5 before coming home to knock off the Lakers 11-4.

Jake Sheley got things started with a four-hit shutout in Saturday's opener. He struck out three.

Sheley got all the support he would need in the second when Tommy Goodale singled to plate Greg Wymer with the game's first run. In the third, St. Ambrose took advantage of a Roosevelt error to score two unearned runs on Matt Baldwin's two-out single through the left side to increase the lead to 3-0.

Zach Hart and Wymer each finished with two hits.

A three-run fifth inning was the difference in the 6-5 Game 2 win. With the Bees trailing 4-2, SAU capitalized on a Laker throwing error and RBI singles from Mike Miller and David Gonzalez to take a 5-4 lead. In the sixth inning, Kevin Zanger laid down a squeeze bunt to get the lead to 6-4.

Roosevelt, which finished with 13 hits, was able to get within a run in the seventh before Jake McCabe and Cooper Sant Amour closed things out.

McCabe got the win after giving up five runs over eight innings. After getting out of a two-on, two-out jam in the eighth he gave way for Sant Amour, who pitched a perfect ninth to get the save.

Andrew Barreto collected three hits while Miller and Wymer each finished with two.

St. Ambrose wasted little time in taking charge of the finale. The Bees put a four-spot up in both the first and third innings.

Barreto stayed hot with a big hit in the first, a bases-clearing double to right center, that came on the heels of Wymer's RBI ground out to give SAU a 4-0 lead. Barreto added an RBI ground out in the third. Nick Foster followed with a two-run single and Josh Hlubek later had an RBI single to push the lead to 8-1.

Wymer picked up an RBI double in the fourth and a two-run single in the sixth to account for the final three SAU runs.

Barreto and Wymer each had two hits and drove in four. Hart and Zanger also had multi-hit games.

Jordan Chapel got the win in relief after after allowing four hits and one run over 4 2/3 innings. Starter Trevor Hatcher allowed just one hit but was hurt by six walks in allowing three runs over 4 1/3. Hatcher struck out five.

SAU will look to keep rolling Tuesday when the Bees host St. Francis for a CCAC doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park.
