Behind the play of Emily Jean, the St. Ambrose women's golf team closed the 2016-17 season by placing seventh at the CCAC Championships, played at the Flossmoor Country Club Thursday and Friday.

Jean, a sophomore, earned a top-15 finish after rounds of 91 and 89 left her with a two-day 180.

The other four Bees, all underclassmen, made significant improvement on Day 2. Kelsey Page made the biggest jump, firing a 94 after an opening-round 101 to finish 29th overall with a 195. Mackenna Munson came back from a 102 to shoot a second-day 96 to end with a 198. After opening with a 104, Jennifer Lorenz shot a 99 to finish 32nd with a 203.

The second day climb helped St. Ambrose finish seventh in the 10-team event with a 776 (398-378). The Bees nearly made up a 20-stroke deficit on Purdue Northwest Friday, finishing just five shots out of sixth place.

Cardinal Stritch won the conference title with a 674 (347-327). CSU's Hannah Stradling was the individual medalist after shooting a 157 (79-78).

The CCAC also announced five Bees were named to the all-academic team. Carly Bettinardi, Erin Bullington, Mackenzie Clawson, Katherine Groezinger and Kelsey Page were recognized for their work in the classroom.
