St. Ambrose University Men's Golf Coach Jeff Griebel is excited to announce the signing of one of the top high school golfers from the Quad-City area.

Matt McEwen, a senior at Mercer County High School in Aledo, Ill., has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose University in the fall 2017.

McEwen was named to the Lincoln Trail Boy's Golf All-Conference Team as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. He was the individual conference champion in 2015. McEwen was also named to the Quad-City Times Boy's Golf All-Area Team four times and was named to the Dispatch and Argus Boy's Golf All-Star Team in 2015 and 2016.

"We are very pleased to continue to attract the top golf talent in the Quad City area with the addition of Matt McEwen to our program," Griebel said. "Matt has had an exceptional high school career and will bring experience and confidence to our team next fall."

Mercer County High School Boy's Golf Coach Darrin Clawson stated, "Matt has improved tremendously during his four years at Mercer County High School. He has been one of most consistent scorers and has a great work ethic. I think St. Ambrose is getting a great young man who not only excels athletically but also academically."

McEwen will be joining a St. Ambrose golf team that has qualified for the NAIA Men's Golf National Tournament 20 of the last 26 years. St. Ambrose will host the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., in both May 2017 and 2018.
