2017 all-CCAC Softball Team

Morgan Krieger and Julie Trellicoso were named to the all-CCAC Softball First Team as the conference announced its postseason softball awards as part of the CCAC Tournament.

Krieger, last year's CCAC Freshman of the Year, is now a two-time first team selection after a fantastic sophomore campaign.

The third baseman from Plainfield, Ill., batted .360 with a team-leading 14 doubles and eight home runs. Her 14 doubles are the fifth most in a single season by any Bee and she moved up to seventh on the school's all-time list with 16 career homers.

Krieger also led the team with 42 RBIs, the eight-best single-season mark in program history, and a .627 slugging percentage.

Trellicoso, a second team all-CCAC pick a year ago, had a tremendous 2017 season.

The junior outfielder from Chicago, Ill., batted .431 from her lead-off spot. Her average is the seventh-best mark in school history, and her 69 hits and 20 stolen bases (in 25 attempts) are both sixth on the SAU single-season charts.

Trellicoso has now swiped 58 bases in her St. Ambrose career, placing her second all-time.

She upped her batting average to a .462 mark in conference play.

The two helped the Bees topped 30 wins for the fourth time in five years, ending 2017 with a 33-18 record. After finishing 14-10 in conference play, SAU's season came to a close Friday on the second day of the CCAC Tournament.

The CCAC also announced Krieger and Trellicoso were among seven Bees named to the all-conference team. They were joined by Anna Boffeli, Shianne Burks, Christina Pembrook, Carley Rusk and MacKenzie Taylor.
