Molly Jo Smith added another award to her collection when she was named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Track & Field Team today.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Nominees must be key members of the team, sophomores or older, with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages.

Smith, from Cambridge, Ill., represents the District 3 College Division, which includes NAIA and two-year colleges from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. She now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected next month.

Smith, already the most decorated female student-athlete in St. Ambrose history, will look to add to her honors when she competes at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships beginning today in Gulf Shores, Ala. A five-time NAIA All-American to this point, she will compete in the 400-meter dash, the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x800-meter relay this week.
