A 20-minute stretch was all St. Ambrose needed to remain unbeaten in a 3-2 win over Culver-Stockton Wednesday at the St. Vincent Athletic Complex.

Trailing 1-0 after surrendering a goal in the fifth minute, the Bees came to life.

First, it was Elizabeth Shealy tying the match at 1-1 in the eighth minute with her team-leading third goal of the season.

Seven minutes later, Katie Reitz gave St. Ambrose a lead it would never relinquish. Erin Smothers had the assist.

It took just 12 minutes for SAU to get an insurance goal. Elisa Senno and McKenna Curzon connected with Morgan Wahlen in the 27th minute for her second-goal of the year to push the lead to 3-1.

It proved to be a crucial goal as Culver-Stockton (3-2) scored in the match's final 20 minutes to cut the margin to 3-2.

But another strong defensive effort helped close out the win as the Bees moved to 3-0-2 on the year. Nicole Staines wasn't tested often, needing just one save to earn the victory. The Bees outshot the Wildcats 14-9.

St. Ambrose has one final non-conference tuneup before beginning CCAC play. SAU will visit Viterbo Saturday at 1 p.m.
