St. Ambrose rallied from a two-goal deficit only to fall 3-2 to Calumet St. Joseph in a CCAC battle Saturday at the St. Vincent Athletic Complex.

A slow start put the Bees in a 2-0 hole just 12:27 into the match.

SAU finally came to life late in the first half. Sam Anstey cleaned up a free-for-all in front of the net in the 43rd minute with his first goal of the year.

Less than 90 seconds into the second half, St. Ambrose got the equalizer.

Sam Winterburn lifted the ball into the box, which Tom Greenwood headed back to Nico Boehling, who beat the Calumet keeper for his first goal of the year, to tie the match at 2-2.

The Bees kept momentum for just five minutes. A mistake in the box allowed the Wave to score what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute.

Despite outshooting Calumet 17-9, St. Ambrose was unable to capitalize and fell to 1-6-2 overall and 1-1 in the CCAC.

Lewis Moston made six saves, four of those coming in the second half, for the Bees.

SAU will next host Roosevelt Wednesday at 5 p.m. at St. Vincent's.
