The St. Ambrose University Dance Team has had tremendous success in their competitions this season. Most recently, they won their fourth straight NAIA Regional Dance Championship.

Kirstin Marriot, a senior from Eldridge, Iowa says that the team is ready for their next big endeavor, the National Dance Alliance (NDA) NAIA National Championships in Daytona Beach this week.

"We have already had a very successful season with two state championships and two regional championships. I am looking forward to working hard and finishing my competitive dance career on a high note," she states.

Marriot has been a competitive dancer since the age of five, and a member of the SAU dance team for four years. Attending SAU and being a student-athlete, she has been able to improve and achieve more than she could have imagined. Watching the program grow, with the freshman classes becoming increasingly more talented each year, Marriot says she is excited to see what lies ahead for the program!

Being a part of such a successful team for four years, Marriot holds high standards for herself and her teammates. In 2012, Marriot and her teammates were at the NDA national competition. After preliminaries, SAU was in second place by two thousandths of a point behind Grandview University.

"We had a very intense practice before finals. The coaches helped us to get to the place we needed to be to win the championship title," she states.

Marriot and her teammates in 2012 had the chance to experience the incredible feeling of winning a national title for St. Ambrose. Hopefully Marriot and the 2014 SAU Dance Team can get that feeling again, and win another title.
