Miserendino and Martyn named Athletes of the Month; Men’s Volleyball named Team of the Month
Chris Miserendino (men's indoor track and field) and Taylor Martyn (softball) were selected by the St. Ambrose Sports Information staff as the February Fighting Bees Athletes of the Month.
The Fighting Bees Men's Volleyball team was named February's Team of the Month.
Miserendino was named the Most Valuable Athlete at the CCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, leading St. Ambrose with 26 points in individual events. The senior from Aurora, Illinois, captured the mile title in 4:17.26 to earn 10 team points and added runner-up finishes in both the 1000-meter run (2:28.19) and 800-meter run (1:55.88) for 16 more. Miserendino also contributed to the team score as the third leg of the runner-up 4x400-meter relay, helping St. Ambrose secure an additional eight points. His strong championship performance qualified him for the NAIA National Championships in the 1000-meter run, where he will represent the Bees on the national stage.
Martyn, a junior outfielder, has been one of St. Ambrose's most productive hitters to start the season. Through the team's first stretch of games, Martyn is batting .524 with 11 hits in 21 at-bats, while driving in nine RBIs and scoring six runs. She has also produced three extra-base hits, posted a .762 slugging percentage, and reached base at a .542 clip, giving the Bees consistent production in the middle of the lineup. Martyn has also been aggressive on the bases, going a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen-base attempts while contributing defensively in the field. Martyn earned CCAC Player of the Week honors on February 10.
The St. Ambrose men's volleyball team earns Team of the Month honors after battling through a competitive early-season schedule and compiling a 6-5 overall record. The Bees secured key victories over Indiana Tech, Culver-Stockton, Augustana, Viterbo, Cornerstone, and Clarke, showing resilience in several tightly contested matches, including multiple five-set battles. Offensively, St. Ambrose has totaled 526 kills (11.95 per set) and 494 assists, while the defense has contributed 92 total blocks and 398 digs, highlighting the team's balanced approach on both sides of the net. With strong play across the roster and a growing presence in conference competition, the Bees continue to build momentum as the season progresses.
Each month, the St. Ambrose Sports Information Department selects a Male and Female Athlete of the Month based on their exceptional accomplishments. A Team of the Month is also chosen to recognize collective achievement across all Fighting Bees programs.
