SAU Fighting Bee Band outreach project
On Saturday, March 10, the Fighting Bee Band will pair up with the Second Baptist Church Music Academy in Rock Island, Ill., for a day of musical exploration. Each semester the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bee Band organizes a service project to benefit local Quad-City community programs.
Fighting Bee Band members will lead participating SBC Music Academy students through a visual block rehearsal, instrument petting zoo, drumline clinic, sectionals, and conclude the day with a performance from the Quad City Metro Drill Team.
This event is taking place at:
919 6th Ave
Rock Island, IL 6120
The day will kick off at 9 a.m. with a performance by the SAU Fighting Bee Band, which was established in 2016.
The St. Ambrose University Fighting Bee Band is a marching ensemble dedicated to musical and visual excellence. Ambrosian students are committed to enriching the surrounding Quad-City community through music and service, as well as providing quality opportunities and experiences for all members regardless of major.
"It's not enough to simply make music; you have to share your talents for the greater good with those around you. Music has the ability to change peoples lives; as musicians and artists it is our responsibility to expand beyond the walls of academia," Director Megan Cooney said.
