Bees Hold On to Defeat St. Francis, Ill.
Justin Tiner scored 22 points, Mike Kennedy added 21 and St. Ambrose held on to defeat St. Francis, Ill., 87-84 Saturday afternoon in Lee Lohman Arena.
The Bees led by as many as 15 points in the first half and had a nine-point edge in the second half. St. Francis tied the score at 78-78 with under five minutes to play but SAU hit 7-of-8 from the line down the stretch to seal the win.
Blondell hit two free throws with five seconds left to give the Bees an 87-84 lead. The Saints were unable to get a shot off in the final seconds.
Blondell (16 points) and Bryce Davis (15) joined Tiner and Kennedy in double figures.
SAU (7-1) will visit Augustana Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
