Frazier named to all-tournament team at Saint Xavier

Nick Frazier was named to the all-tournament team after scoring 34 points to lead No. 21 St. Ambrose to an 89-69 win over Aquinas (Mich.) in the third-place game of the Saint Xavier Midwest Tournament. The Bees improve to 11-4 overall.

Frazier, who averaged 27.7 points in the three-game tournament featuring five nationally-ranked teams, connected on 11-of-17 shots from the field Monday night, including 5-of-7 3-point attempts. He also hit all seven of his free-throw attempts.

His 16 points in the first half helped St. Ambrose to a 41-33 lead at the break.

After Aquinas (6-9) climbed to within five points at 51-46 with 15 minutes remaining, Frazier capped a 10-0 SAU run with a 3-pointer to rebuild a 61-46 advantage with 12:58 to play. The lead remained in double figures the rest of the way.

Frazier and Tylon Deal were dominant in the second half. While Frazier scored 18 second-half points, Deal netted 17 of his 25 points after halftime.

Along with shooting 46.2 percent from the field for the game, SAU hit 12-of-22 from beyond the arc (54.5 percent) and 17-of-18 from the line (94.4 percent). The Bees also finished with a 44-31 edge on the boards.

Darren Galloway was the only other Bee to hit double figures, finishing with 11 points.

But Frazier was a clear choice for the all-tournament team after scoring at least 24 points in all three games. He shot 55.3 percent from the floor (26-of-47), 40.9 percent on threes (9-of-22) and 81.5 percent from the line (22-of-27).

St. Ambrose now has a break before hosting Indiana-South Bend on Saturday, Jan. 4. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
