Five in double figures as Bees roll to victory

All five Bee starters scored in double figures as St. Ambrose rolled to an 82-66 win at Viterbo Wednesday night.

SAU shot a blistering 58.5 percent from the field, hitting 31-of-53 attempts. That included an 11-of-25 mark from 3-point range. The Bees were also 9-of-11 from the line.

St. Ambrose (9-12, 6-7 CCAC) also got it done defensively, limiting Viterbo to less than 40 percent shooting.

In a close game early, SAU actually had to rally from a 32-27 deficit five minutes before halftime.

But over those final five minutes, the Bees caught five. SAU knocked down six consecutive shots from the floor, including two threes each from Collin Wainscott and Nolan Deitrich, and one triple from Solomon Garrison.

Viterbo (6-13, 4-9 CCAC) ended the half with a 3-pointer to snap the 17-point run from St. Ambrose, but by that point the Bees had built a 44-35 lead at the break.

SAU continued to pour it on in the early stages of the second half with a Kieran Farrell three-point play giving the team its largest lead of the night at 68-44 with just under 11 minutes remaining.

The Bees weren't challenged the rest of the way.

The five SAU starters combined to shoot 27-of-41 from the floor to account for 71 of the team's 82 points.

Guillermo Narbona led the way, hitting 8-of-10 from the field in scoring 19 points. Wainscott and Ignacio Dacunda each scored 14 while Farrell finished with 13 and Deitrich added 11.

Wainscott (4-of-8) and Deitrich (3-of-7) combined to knocked down seven 3-pointers in the win.

Dacunda also recorded 10 rebounds and five assists.

Ryan Kenney came off the bench to score eight points and Garrison added three.

St. Ambrose will visit Indiana South Bend Saturday.
