SAU places ninth at Whistling Straits Classic

In their final event of the fall, St. Ambrose took ninth place at the Whistling Straits Classic played in Sheboygan, Wis., Monday and Tuesday.

Colin Riggs was the top Bee as he finished 28th overall. Riggs started with an 80, and like the majority of the field, struggled Tuesday with an 87 to finish with a 167.

All five Bees saw their score increase from Round 1 to 2.

Tim Marcum carded a first-round 83 before matching Riggs with a closing 87 to end with a 170. Mason Steinert had SAU's top round of the tournament, shooting a 78 Monday. But he closed with a 94 for a 172.

Dylan McAleer had rounds of 81 and 94 for a 175 and Brody Miguel put together rounds of 88 and 97 for a 185 to round out the St. Ambrose five.

SAU shot a 322 before falling to a 362. The Bees' 684 left them in ninth place in the 13-team event.

Indiana Wesleyan, led by individual medalist Sam Dykema (76-80=156), won the team title with a 631 (311-320).
