Bales named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week

Pearson Willis of Ottawa University and Josh Bales of St. Ambrose University have earned the KCAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Tuesday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from April 16-22 by a vote of conference sports information directors.

Bales was dominant in face-offs over two victories last week. The sophomore from Mukwonago, Wis., won 49-of-54 face-offs, good for 90.3 percent. He won 28-of-29 in a big win over Central Christian (Kan.) while also contributing two goals and an assist. He finished the week by winning 21-of-25 face-offs to help the Bees to an 11-10 overtime victory over Columbia (Mo.).

This season, Bales has won 72.9 percent of face-offs (212-of-291). He has helped St. Ambrose to an 8-6 record, including a 4-2 mark in the KCAC. Bales and the Bees will face Saint Mary (Kan.) in a semifinal game of the KCAC Tournament Thursday in Leavenworth, Kan.
