Bees use fast start to defeat Saints

St. Ambrose got off to a fast start Saturday afternoon in Chicago scoring six first period goals in defeating No. 10 Siena Heights, 15-13.

After a Saints goal, SAU rattled off four straight goals with Nate Crawford, Chris Scislowski, Cameron Daugherty, and Danner (from Hayden Latham) finding the back of the net to go up 6-1. Two goals from Siena Heights cut into the Ambrose lead heading into the second. The teams traded goals in the second with Michael Keating (from Kerr) and Shakerin scoring for the Bees. The halftime lead was only two as the Saints scored with less than a minute remaining.

Crawford put one in the back of the net off an assist from Shakerin to start the second half. Siena Heights cut into the lead with a goal, but Shakerin and Crawford connected again, and Shakerin found Keating to push the lead to four. Two goals by the Saints followed until Danner found Shakerin with less than a minute remaining in the third. The Bees came out firing in the fourth, scoring three straight goals to go up by six. Danner, Matt Romero, and Crawford all found the net with assists coming from Crawford and Latham. St. Ambrose was able to hold off a late charge by Siena Heights as they scored four goals in the fourth to account for the final score.
