St. Ambrose falls in second conference game

St. Ambrose men's soccer traveled to La Crosse, Wis., on Saturday afternoon to take on the Viterbo V-Hawks. The Bees drop the match 1-6 against the V-Hawks.

The Bees' offense was quiet in the first half, with only two shots, and one of them connected with the back of the net. Ricardo Ronconi put up the first shot in the third minute, but was unable to get it past the V-Hawk goalie. The lone goal of the game for St. Ambrose was scored in the 20th minute by Dylan Ollendieck, which cut Viterbo's lead in half. The V-Hawks would continue testing the Bees' defense, collecting two more goals before the end of the first half. 

St. Ambrose tallied four more shots in the second half from Luis Ferbeyre, Josh Simon, and Miguel Fernandez. The Bees failed to find the back of the net in the second half. The V-Hawks pressure the Bees more in the half, earning two goals to bring the final score to 6-1.

Dawson Yegge started in the goal for the Bees, tallying two saves in 45 minutes of play. Matthew Booten took over in the second half, collecting four saves.

The Bees are back home on Tuesday, September 30th, as they take on the Olivet Nazarene Tigers at 5:00 p.m. at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.
