Grady, Saloninas named CCAC Athletes of the Week
CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Megan Grady (Amboy, Ill.) and Mick Saloninas (Downers Grove, Ill.) have claimed the first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Indoor Track and Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week awards for 2021, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Grady, a senior, authored the fourth-fastest time in the 3,000-meter run at the NAIA level this year with her winning time of 10:48.5 to gain CCAC Track Athlete of the Week honors. A total of five individuals made up the field in the event, which was part of the St. Ambrose Frigid Bee Invite.
Saloninas captured CCAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades for his performance at the same Frigid Bee meet. The sophomore was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put, placing second out of ten at the meet with a throw of 48 feet, four inches. That mark is also 12th-best in the NAIA this season.
