Ohioze to compete at UK Olympic Trials

Michael Ohioze, a 2017 St. Ambrose graduate and 10-time NAIA All-American for the Bees, will compete in the prelims of the 400m run at the 2024 UK Olympic Trials Saturday.

The London, England, native ran his collegiate track career at St. Ambrose while also playing soccer for the Bees. He set school records in the outdoor 100m dash (10.64), 200m dash (21.00) and 400-meter dash (47.67). Those records all still stand today.

Ohioze competed at the 2021 British Athletic Championships, where he finished third in the 400m in 46.42 seconds, just over a second faster than his SAU school-record time set in 2016. That performance earned him one of five spots on Great Britain's 4x400m relay team that competed in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. There he became the first-ever track & field athlete from St. Ambrose to compete in the Olympic Games.

Ohioze joins Will Reemtsma, who is competing at the US Olympic Trials in the 400m hurdles Thursday, as Bees vying for Olympic bids.
