Bees kick off break with Finals Week Invite
On Thursday and Friday, Dec. 11-12, the Bees kicked off their break by hosting the Finals Week Invite at the WRC. The women's team placed third with 82 points while the men's team placed first with 143 total points.
On the Men's side, Kaizer Riley placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a 7.02, JaQuarion Lewis placed third in the 200 with a time of 22.64 and PR'd in the 60-meter dash with a 7.19.
In the 400-meter race, Javon Bruce placed second with a time of 50.54, and Zach Brown ran a PR in both the 200 and the 400 (23.60 and 52.18).
In the 600, Dylan Grandon received the B standard, running a time of 1:20.72. Finishing right behind him was Chris Miserendino in third (1:23.29).
Elijah House won the 1000 meters, giving himself a PR of 2:33.25.
Some PRs within the Men's mile included Kevin Chaney with a three-second PR (4:36), and Benett Boatright getting a 10-second PR and breaking five minutes in the mile (4:50).
Brady Belz in the 60-meter hurdles placed third in the finals with a time of 8.51.
Finishing off the running events, SAU's 4x4 relay with Riley, Jackson Baedke, Charles Huesmann and Dylan Grandon ran a time of 3:19.93 to hit the B standard.
In the field events, Joshua Mottet received a mark of 3.95 in pole-vault to place third.
Leavell Windfield Jr. and Robert Lee grabbed the top two spots in the long jump with marks of 6.98 and 6.76 meters, PRs for both. In the triple jump, Windfield placed second with a mark of 12.92 meters.
In shot put, Joe Reinhart was second with a mark of 15.89m and Trenton Blackwell threw a mark of 13.67 m. Reinhart also won the men's weight throw with a mark of 17.37m.
On the women's side, Nazayda Bloch placed third while Sarah Jordan was fifth in the 60-meter dash finals with times of 7.90 and 7.95. Jordan also ran the 200 and placed first with a time of 25.96.
Lynzie Cady PRd in both the 200 and the 400 (27.93 and 1:02.4), placing eighth and fourth, respectively.
In the 600, Kaylee Mowen placed fourth with a time of 1:44.07 and Danielle Moore ran a 1:47.75.
Kate Surwillo took second in the pole vault with a mark of 2.85m.
In long jump, Jor'ae Beaver placed sixth with a mark of 4.69m and Catherine Zamora finished seventh with a mark and PR of 4.53m. Beaver and Zamora proceeded to place third and fourth in the triple jump with marks of 9.30 and 9.09m.
Bree Neumiller received B standard in shot put with a mark of 13.59m, while PRing in both the shot put and weight throw (12.89m).
With another meet in the books, the Bees are ready to come back from break, get more personal records and qualifying standards at the next meet - the Battle in the Hive - on Jan. 10 at 11 a.m. on the home track of the Fighting Bees.
