Bees race their last indoor meet at the Conference Championships
Over the weekend, the men's and women's teams competed at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Olivet in Bourbonnais, Ill., Friday and Saturday. Looking at team scores, St. Ambrose got second on the men's side with a total of 203 points, and the women placed fourth with 91 points.
Some awards that were handed out included MVP to Chris Miserendino as he ran the 1k with a PR, hit the A standard with a time of 2:28.19 to place second. He also won the mile, placed second in the 800m with a time of 1:55.88 and was in the 4x4 that placed second with a time of 3:28.23.
Dylan Grandon received the Most Outstanding Performer as he won the 1k with a PR and time of 2:28.17 and won the 600m with a time of 1:20.47. Grandon received the A standard in both events.
Claire O'Melia tied the school record in the women's 60m preliminaries with a time of 7.72 and in the finals took second with a time of 7.75.
Some other PRs from the team included Lynzie Cady, Lucy Oehler, Maryn Gardner in the 400m with times of 1:01.93, 1:02.13, and 1:07.53. Kaylee Mowen PRd in the 600m with a time of 1:42.24 placing fifth, while in the men's 800m Tyler Moody placed third with a PR of 1:57.23. Javon Bruce and Charles Huesmann both set new personal bests with times of 1:22.62 and 1:23.66. Jack Lied, Eileen Elenteny, and Rylie Dunne all set personal records of 2:04.56, 2:48.03, and 2:48.06.
Elijah House placed second in the 600m (1:12.19) and PRd in the 1k with a time of 2:31.63. Adeline Smith PRd in both the 3k and the 5k with times of 10:53 and 18:48 along with Kaitlyn Knoche placing third in the 5k with a time of 18:26. Ross Willerth placed sixth in the 3k with a PR of 9:02, and shortly after, Ian Eller finished with a PR of 9:13. Willerth also placed fifth in the 5k with a time of 15:26.
Other highlighted performances include Jatzyel Hernandez placing fifth in the 200m (22.54) and third in the 400m (50.15). Brady Belz finished third in 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.41 seconds. Sarah Jordan placed fifth in 60m finals with a time of 7.83 seconds and placed third in the 200m finals (25.63).
Josiah Carter placed fourth in high jump with a mark of 1.86m and Joshua Mottet placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55m. Ryleigh Warden in the women's pole vault placed fourth with a mark of 3.05m and Kate Surwillo placing fifth by tying Warden with a mark of 3.05m. Leavell Windfield Jr. placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.80m and proceeded to place first in the triple jump with a mark of 14.52m, hitting the National B standard. Dominic Neely placed third in the men's heptathlon with a total score of 3758 points.
For throws, Joe Reinhart placed second in the shot put with a mark of 15.96m and second in the weight throw with a mark of 18.45m. Bree Neumiller in the women's shot put threw a mark of 13.16m and right behind her, placing third was Tosin Oshin with a mark of 11.74m.
This being the last indoor conference championships as part of the CCAC, the Bees brought the sting and competed at their best in every race. They are determined more than ever to bring this energy into outdoor competitions.
