Grandon, Miserendino honored at CCAC Indoor Championships
Dylan Grandon and Chris Miserendino were recognized by the conference for their efforts at the CCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Bourbonnais, Ill., over the weekend.
Grandon was named the Men's Most Outstanding Track Athlete while Miserendino was tabbed as the Men's Most Valuable Athlete.
Grandon, who earned both MVP and Outstanding Athlete honors at last year's championships, won a pair of individual championships while hitting the A standard in both.
The junior from Urbandale, Iowa, won the 1000-meter run in 2:28.17 and the 600-meter run in 1:20.47. Grandon also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team, which took second in a time of 3:28.23.
Miserendino was named the Most Valuable Athlete by accumulating the most points at the championships.
The senior from Aurora, Ill., earned 26 points in individual events, thanks to a first-place and a pair of second-place finishes. Miserendino won the mile in 4:17.26 to earn 10 team points. He took second to Grandon in the 1000-meter run (2:28.19) and was also second in the 800-meter run (1:55.88) to pick up 16 additional points.
Miserendino also ran the third leg for the runner-up 4x400-meter relay team to earn another eight points for St. Ambrose.
Grandon and Miserendino helped the Bees finish second in the seven-team championships.
