Track Distance Crew debuts to begin outdoor season

Saturday, the distance track athletes opened their outdoor season at the Central College Dutch Invitational in Pella, Iowa.

Despite the wind and cooler temps, some of the Bees regardlessly pulled away with personal records (PRs).

Some highlighted performances included the women's 3k steeplechase, where Kaitlyn Knoche ran the National B Standard with a time of 11:10.74. Also in the steeplechase, both Adeline Smith and Lauren Johnson earned PRs with times of 11:53.99 and 12:04.08.

In the men's 1500, both Carver Reiss and Anthony Conard PRd, running times of 4:36 and 4:39.

Chris Miserendino placed second after taking the 800m out strong against the wind with a time of 1:55.43. Allison Hein placed fourth in the women's 5k with a time of 18:49.87. In the men's 5k, Ross Willerth placed fourth with a time of 15:38.15, Luke Getz made his track debut this season and placed sixth with a time of 15:50.91, and Ian Eller ran a 15:51.44. Jack Degner PRd with a time of 16:11.

Starting off the season strong, the Bees next meet is the Viking Olympics on April 3 at Augustana College, where the distance crew will continue their season and the rest of the team will start their season!
