Bees drop home dual to the Vikings
St. Ambrose University wrestling returned to action at home on January 7, hosting Augustana College in a non-conference dual. The Bees showed flashes of dominance in the middle of the lineup but ultimately fell 33–14 to the Vikings.
Augustana built its advantage early with bonus points at the lower weights, while St. Ambrose responded with three decisive victories—including two technical falls—to keep the dual competitive into the second half.
141 – Guiseppe Guerra
Guerra continued his strong season with a dominant performance at 141 pounds, rolling to a 19–4 technical fall over Matt Lucansky in just 4:38. Guerra scored consistently from neutral and on top, securing five team points for the Bees.
149 – Georgino Moraga
Moraga followed with another decisive victory, earning a 14–4 major decision over Trevion Gilford. Moraga controlled the match from start to finish, building separation through takedowns and riding time to add four points to the team total.
174 – Brody Schmidt
Schmidt delivered one of the night's most emphatic wins, notching a 15–0 technical fall in 3:30 over William Hittinger. His aggressive pace quickly overwhelmed his opponent and accounted for five team points.
Two additional matches took place that did not count towards team points. Berett Callison and Colin O'Grady collected falls over their opponents.
AJ Trendle (133 pounds), Josh Zeman (157 pounds), Jean-Luc Guerra (165 pounds), Nicolas Makwala (184 pounds), Jeremiah Morris (197 pounds), and Keandre Miles (285 pounds) also wrestled for the Bees.
The Bees are on the road next, traveling to Marshall, Mo., for the Missouri Valley Duals on Friday, January 9.
