SAU Trio Battles at NAIA National Championships

Three St. Ambrose wrestlers represented the Bees at the 2026 NAIA National Championships, as Guiseppe Guerra (141), Georgino Moraga (149), and Josh Zeman (149) competed on the national stage against the best wrestlers from across the country.

The trio earned their national berths after strong performances at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships, carrying that momentum into the national tournament.

Guiseppe Guerra – 141 lbs

Guerra competed in a deep 141-pound bracket and battled through the consolation rounds after an early loss to Tyler Rhue of Southern Oregon. He rebounded with a decisive 17-1 technical fall victory over Conner Kimbrough (Indiana Tech) to remain alive in the tournament before being eliminated later in the wrestlebacks.

Guerra finished his season competing against some of the NAIA's top competition and represented SAU well on the national stage.

Georgino Moraga – 149 lbs

Moraga opened his tournament against Cole Cross (Eastern Oregon) but dropped the opening bout before moving to the consolation bracket. He earned a 17-2 technical fall victory in the wrestlebacks to extend his tournament run before eventually being eliminated in the next round.

Josh Zeman – 149 lbs

Zeman drew the tournament's top seed, Kaden Fetterolf (Oklahoma City), in the opening round and was defeated by technical fall. He bounced back in the consolation bracket with a 7-3 decision victory over Tiernan Boots (Marian) before being eliminated in the following round.
