Krieger named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team
St. Ambrose junior infielder Morgan Krieger, from Plainfield, Ill., was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball Team selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It marks the second straight year she has been voted to the prestigious team.
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, sophomores or older, with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages.
Krieger, one of just four infielders on the team, represents the District 3 College Division, which includes NAIA and two-year colleges from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. She now advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, where first- and second-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
A three-time all-conference selection, Krieger was named second team all-conference this season, splitting time between first and third base. She led the team with 28 RBIs and 13 doubles and finished second on the club with a .328 batting average. Krieger had 12 multi-hit games, including five over the final 13 games when she batted .421 (16-of-38) down the stretch. She helped SAU finish 27-20 overall and 10-12 in the CCAC this season.
Krieger is majoring in Psychology at St. Ambrose.
