The St. Ambrose softball team is on its annual Spring Break trip to Clermont, Fla.

March 9
Warner 6, St. Ambrose 4 - box score
St. Ambrose could not hold on to an early lead in dropping the first game of the trip 6-4 to Warner. After Warner scored one run in the top of the first, the Bees answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Christina Pembrook, Morgan Krieger, Makena McConnaughhay and Karley Kopaska had RBIs in the frame. But those proved to be SAU's only runs of the game. The Royals tied the game with a three-run third inning and took the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth. Jane Thomas took the loss despite allowing just three earned runs over seven innings. Pembrook and Krieger each collected two of the Bees' nine hits.

Saint Francis (Ind.) 4, St. Ambrose 3 - box score
A similar story played out in the second game of the day, a 4-3 loss to Saint Francis (Ind.). Madelyn Thompson hit a three-run home run in the third inning to give SAU an early 3-0 lead. But the Cougars answered with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and took the lead with a two-run sixth. The Bees finished with 12 hits, three off the bat of Libby Munsterman, but stranded 10 runners on base, including leaving at least two on in three different innings. Olivia McClintock and Karley Kopaska each had two hits. Christina Pembrook was charged with the loss.

March 10
St. Ambrose 7, St. Mary-of-the-Woods 0 - box score
The offense came alive as the Bees swept three games on Sunday, starting with a 7-0 shutout of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, in the team's lowest-scoring game of the day. Karley Kopaska had an RBI double and Briana Olson had a sacrifice fly to give St. Ambrose a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Then in the third, SAU put together five hits and took advantage of a pair of errors to plate five additional runs. Madelyn Thompson's two-run double to right was the big hit of the frame. Kopaska, Thompson and Christina Pembrook each had two hits in the win. Pembrook and Sarah Willman combined on the shutout. Pembrook got the win after allowing four hits over five scoreless innings. Willman closed the game with a pair of perfect innings.

St. Ambrose 10, Lourdes 2 (5 inn.) - box score
An eight-run third inning helped St. Ambrose defeat Lourdes 10-2 in five innings. The Bees actually trailed 2-0 before RBIs from Madelyn Thompson and Libby Munsterman in the bottom of the first tied the score. Then came the third inning. SAU sent 14 hitters to the plate and needed just four hits to plate the eight runs. Jasmine Bowman had an inside-the-park three-run home run in the middle of the outburst, one of three hits for her in the game. The Bees also took advantage of four walks and two errors in the inning. Thompson and Munsterman each had a two-hit game for St. Ambrose. Colleen Barrett and Tara Lance had drove in a run. Jane Thomas got the win after allowing six hits and two runs over four innings. Sarah Willman worked the final inning.

St. Ambrose 17, Indiana Tech 5 (6 inn.) - box score
The Bees closed the day with a 17-5 win over Indiana Tech in six innings. Nine different Bees had at least one hit, with seven of those collecting at least two hits. St. Ambrose scored in five of the six innings, including a six-run third inning, a four-run fourth and a five-run sixth. Morgan Krieger and Colleen Barrett each had three hits while Olivia McClintock, Christina Pembrook, Madelyn Thompson, Libby Munsterman and Jasmine Bowman each had two. Thompson and Krieger each drove in three runs while McClintock, Pembrook, Munsterman, Bowman, Barrett, Karley Kopaska and Makena McConnaughhay each collected one RBI. Bowman also scored three runs. Sarah Willman and Pembrook were the beneficiaries of the offensive support. Willman pitched the first three innings before Pembrook earned the win by working the final three frames.

March 11
St. Ambrose 7, Embry-Riddle 3 - box score
The top four hitters in the order went a combined 8-for-14 in leading St. Ambrose to a 7-3 win over Embry-Riddle. Olivia McClintock, Christina Pembrook, Madelyn Thompson and Morgan Krieger each had two hits and the No. 9 hitter Colleen Barrett went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs in the win. The Bees finished with 13 total hits. SAU did much of its damage in the early frames, scoring twice in the first inning and three times in the second. Barrett added a two-run single in the fourth to account for the final two SAU runs. Libby Munsterman also knocked in two runs. Pembrook went the distance, allowing five hits and two earned runs over her seven innings to get the win.

Webber International 3, St. Ambrose 1 - box score
Two hits and four errors were too much to overcome in a 3-1 loss to Webber International. Christina Pembrook had a one-out double in the first and Colleen Barrett had a lead-off single in the sixth for the two St. Ambrose hits. After Barrett moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jasmine Bowman, pinch runner Olivia McClintock took third on a passed ball and came around to score when Madelyn Thompson reached on a WIU error. That tied the game at 1-1. But in the bottom of the sixth, Webber International retook the lead by plating two runs, only one earned. Libby Munsterman led off the seventh by drawing a walk but she was stranded there. Jane Thomas took the loss depsite allowing just two earned runs over six innings.

March 13
St. Ambrose 4, Doane 2 - box score
Run-scoring singles from Karley Kopaska and Briana Olson highlighted a three-run sixth inning that helped St. Ambrose rally for a 4-2 win over Doane. After an RBI from Kopaska in the fourth, the Bees trailed 2-1 entering the sixth. Madelyn Thompson started the inning with a walk and came around to score the tying run when Jasmine Bowman reached on a two-out error. After Bowman stole second, Kopaska and Olson followed with their RBI hits to give SAU the lead. Christina Pembrook made that lead hold up. She allowed six hits and one earned run in the complete-game victory.

Lawrence Tech 8, St. Ambrose 0 (5 inn.) - box score
The Bees were limited to just one hit, that a one-out Jasmine Bowman single in the fifth, in an 8-0 five-inning loss to Lawrence Tech. After Olivia McClintock drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the first, the next 13 Bees were retired in order before Bowman's single in the fifth. Lawrence Tech got the only run it would need in the second inning. The Blue Devils added three runs in the third and four more in the fifth. Sarah Willman took the loss despite allowing just three hits and one run over 2 1/3 innings.

March 14
St. Ambrose 2, Southeastern 1 (10 inn.) - box score
Jasmine Bowman's two-out triple in the top of the 10th plated Morgan Krieger with what proved to be the winning run in a 2-1 win over Southeastern. Using the international tiebreaker, Krieger started the inning on second base, but after the first two Bees failed to bring her in, it took Bowman's triple to left center to give SAU the lead. Jane Thomas worked out of a jam in the bottom of the inning after a one-out error put runners on the corners. Thomas came back with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game and earn the win. It was the second extra-inning jam St. Ambrose escaped. In the bottom of the eighth in a scoreless game, a bunt single and a walk loaded the bases for the Fire. But in her eighth and final inning of work, Christina Pembrook induced a 6-2-3 double play and then got another groundball to escape unscathed. Both teams scored in the ninth inning, with Olivia McClintock's single scoring Colleen McCue in the top of the inning, leading to Bowman's heroics in the 10th. Pembrook allowed just four hits in her eight scoreless innings of work before giving way to Thomas. McClintock finished with two of the Bees' four total hits.

Indiana Tech 6, St. Ambrose 2 - box score
Madelyn Thompson's solo home run in the first and Jasmine Bowman's sacrifice fly in the sixth accounted for the lone two runs in a 6-2 loss to Indiana Tech. Thompson gave the Bees a quick 1-0 lead before Indiana Tech responded with four runs in the bottom of the first. Bowman's fly ball drove in Thompson to cut the deficit to 4-2 but the Warriors pushed across two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning. Bowman, Libby Munsterman and Tara Lance also had hits for St. Ambrose. Jane Thomas was charged with the loss.

St. Ambrose 7, Saint Mary 6 - box score
More late dramatics helped St. Ambrose to a 7-6 win over Saint Mary in the team's third game of the day. Trailing 6-5 with two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the seventh, five straight Bees reached base capped by back-to-back RBI singles from Tara Lance and Olivia McClintock in the walk-off win. Jasmine Bowman started the rally with a base hit. Colleen Barrett also singled before pinch hitter MaKenna Butcher drew a walk. With the bases loaded, Lance tied the game with her single to left. McClintock followed with her walk-off single. It was the second rally of the game for SAU. Trailing 5-0 after two innings, Morgan Krieger had a two-run double as part of a four-run third inning and the Bees tied the game with an unearned run in the fourth. Saint Mary regained the lead in the sixth before the final St. Ambrose rally. McClintock had three hits and Krieger, Bowman and Barrett each had two in the victory. Jane Thomas earned the win after allowing four hits and one run over six innings of relief.

March 15
St. Ambrose 5, Saint Mary 1 - box score
Olivia McClintock and Morgan Krieger each had three hits to help St. Ambrose to a 5-1 win over Saint Mary. Jasmine Bowman collected two hits as part of the Bees' 13-hit attack. Two of McClintock's three hits drove in a run, including her run-scoring single in the second that followed the first of two sacrifice flies off the bat of Colleen Barrett. Karley Kopaska also had an RBI drawing a bases-loaded walk as part of a two-run fifth inning. Jane Thomas allowed six hits and one run over six innings of work to get the win. Sarah Willman got out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh in her one inning of work.

Lourdes 3, St. Ambrose 1 - box score
The Spring Break trip to Florida ended with a 3-1 loss to Lourdes. The Bees led 1-0 on a Colleen Barrett RBI single in the second inning and maintained that lead until the top of the seventh. But in that inning, Lourdes took advantage of two St. Ambrose errors to push across three runs. All three runs scored with two outs. SAU threatened in the bottom of the frame, loading the bases as Libby Munsterman singled, Colleen McCue was hit by a pitch and Briana Olson walked. But Olivia McClintock grounded out to end the contest. Christina Pembrook was the hard-luck loser. She surrendered just four hits and did not allow an earned run in her seven innings.
