Martyn, Maro named CCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week
CHICAGO - A perfect 4-0 week resulted in a sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's softball weekly honors for St. Ambrose University. Taylor Martyn (Oglesby, Ill.) and Leah Maro (Davenport, Iowa) came away with the recognition following their performances during the seven-day period ending Feb. 8. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday.
Martyn was nearly perfect at the plate en route to the CCAC Player of the Week award. She collected seven hits in eight at-bats (.875), had a pair of triples and drove in four runs, while scoring five times herself. Her other numbers included four stolen bases.
The junior outfielder closed out the week with three hits in three at-bats, including the two triples, and drove in a pair of runs in a 9-5 win over Clarke University (Iowa) on Sunday. She also had a pair of two-hit games versus Cleary University (Mich.) on Friday and Briar Cliff University (Iowa) on Saturday. In each of those two games, her other statistics included two stolen bases and one RBI.

The junior did not allow a run in the 9-0 victory over Cleary on Saturday, striking out seven batters against two hits and one walk in 4 1/3 innings. She also had seven K's in a five-inning, complete-game decision over Briar Cliff on Saturday, where the Fighting Bees won 10-1.
