Bees make return to CCAC Tournament

St. Ambrose will make its first appearance in the CCAC Women's Basketball Tournament for the first time since the 2022-23 season when the Bees play a quarterfinal game at St. Francis Tuesday night.

SAU closed the regular season by going 4-2 in the month of February. That allowed the team to finish 11-9 in league play to grab the No. 7 seed in the postseason tournament.

The Bees will play a St. Francis team that finished second in the CCAC with a 17-3 conference mark.

The two teams met just once during the regular season with the Fighting Saints earning a victory in Joliet, Ill., on Jan. 14.

The winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal, which tips off at 7 p.m., will play the winner of the Viterbo-Indiana South Bend game in a semifinal on Thursday. Regular-season champion Olivet Nazarene will play Holy Cross and Saint Xavier will host Governors State in the other Tuesday quarterfinals.

The championship game will be played Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.
