Maria Esteban joined the St. Ambrose women's basketball coaching staff in August 2025.

Esteban, originally from Madrid, Spain, played four years of collegiate basketball at Bethany Lutheran College. During her time there, she was part of the team that won the UMAC regular season championship in 2021-22. She was also recognized for her academic success, earning Academic All-Conference honors all four years of her career.

“Maria came highly recommended and has great knowledge for the game of basketball," SAU head coach Zac Exume said. "It’s clear that she has a lot of passion for coaching, and her experience playing overseas and in college gives us a different perspective to utilize.”

Esteban graduated from Bethany Lutheran College with bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership at St. Ambrose University.
