Bees to face Indiana Wesleyan in NAIA Opening Round

St. Ambrose will take on No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan in the NAIA Opening Round on Thursday, November 18th at 5:30 p.m. CST in Marion, Ind. The Wildcats are the No.1 seed in the Marion bracket while the Bees are the No.4 seed. Aquinas (Mich.) is the No.2 seed and Hope International (Calif.) is the No.3 seed in the bracket. Those two teams will play on November 18th at 3 p.m.

SAU earned an automatic bid to the 40-team NAIA Opening Round event after winning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament. The Bees were the fifth seed and defeated Olivet Nazarene, University of St. Francis (Ill.), and Trinity Christian on their way to the title. 

IWU earned an automatic bid by winning the Crossroads League tournament championship. The Wildcats were the second seed in the tournament and beat Taylor University, Marion (Ind.), and Spring Arbor (Mich.) on their way to the title. 

Both teams come into the matchup on a six-game winning streak and have each posted 10 shutouts. St. Ambrose has a 15-5-1 overall record, and Indiana Wesleyan is 16-3 on the year. SAU has a 3.15 goals-per-game average and a 0.78 goals-against average. IWU averages 3.26 goals per game and has a 0.78 goals-against average as well.
