Bees blanked by the Bison

The Bees drop to 2-3-2 after a 5-0 loss to Division 1, North Dakota State this evening. In Fargo, N.D., St. Ambrose struggled to create offensive opportunities as the Bison of North Dakota State tested the Bees defense. Grace Kuchar and the Bees defense ended with eight saves.

From the start, the Bison were on the attack with a shot off the frame of goal less than two minutes into the match.

But, SAU would stand tall to create a scoring chance of their own. A Kaitlyn Brunson shot to the corner would force a NDSU save by the goal keeper. This would end up being the only shot on frame for St. Ambrose all evening.

Kuchar would come through time and time again for the Bees as the Bison fired off another shot that hit the post in the 26th minute of play. SAU would not allow the breakthrough goal until finally the Bison scored their first goal of the match. In the 33rd minute, North Dakota State would find themselves with the lead 1-0.

No less than two minutes later, the Bison would score again to double their lead as St. Ambrose could not catch their footing. The Bees were pinned in with little momentum as NDSU netted another for a 3-0 lead just before half time.

As SAU regrouped, they fended off the Bison for another ten minutes as NDSU heightend the pressure. The Bison scored the fourth goal of the game and would not back down.

Shortly after, Brunson would have another chance on net but the ball would sail out left. Just before the last goal from the Bison, Nuria Montouto would have a go at goal but nothing would come of it. NDSU would top the Bees 5-0 at Dacotah Field.

St. Ambrose managed four shots with one being on frame. The Bees were able to create two corner kicks on the evening.

Kuchar faced 13 shots, ending with eight saves.

The Bees will return home Sun., Sep. 22 for their conference opener as they host the Indiana-South Bend Titans. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
