An offensive outburst continues Bees' winning-streak
SAU netted nine goals in a conference victory earlier this afternoon in East Chicago, Ind. The Bees were too much for the Crimson Wave to handle as St. Ambrose fired off 28 total shots in the match. This extends the Bees' winning-streak to six straight matches.
St. Ambrose scored early and often to net nine goals in the victory while not allowing Calumet any offensive chances.
Defender Allie Govert started the scoring off for the Bees as she slipped a ball right past the keeper. This goal would end up as the game-winner due to stout defense from SAU.
After an individual effort, Genevieve Bowyer was up next for SAU as she scored in the 21st minute to double the lead already in the match. It only took the Bees 13 more seconds as they charged down the field to score their third goal, off the foot of Charlise Martel.
Martel would have a phenomenal showing with another goal just minutes later to earn a brace on the afternoon.
A few minutes later, Sophia Roszkowski would extend the lead to 5-0 in favor of St. Ambrose.
Before the halftime break, Jenna Horst slid one into the net to show the dominance of St. Ambrose.
At halftime, the Bees were sitting with a 6-0 lead and did not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Right after the break, Malu Garuba Coelho found Maggie Konczak to turn the lead to 7-0.
Head Coach, Jon Mannall, even gave Grace Kuchar the opportunity to get her foot on a ball for a goal. Kuchar would deliver later in the match to score her first goal of the season as she has been a key primary face in the Bees defensive efforts this season.
The last goal for St. Ambrose would come in the 88th minute as Lauren Bendall netted an individual effort goal to end things at 8-0.
It was not all goals for the Bees as they earned 14 corner kicks within the match. Each corner giving SAU another scoring opportunity.
This dominant win moves the Bees to 9-5-2 overall and 7-2 in conference as SAU looks to be atop the conference, with it all coming down to the last few games of the season.
The Bees earned their fourth consecutive shut out in conference play.
When looking ahead for SAU, they will play host to Viterbo this Wed., Oct. 30th at 7:30 p.m. The Bees will play the second game of the men's and women's conference double header at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.
